- Explain the characteristics and importance of sterile preparations, the principles of sterility and sterility assurance.
- The importance of microbial prevention and sterilization using physical methods, chemical disinfectants, and the types and levels of disinfection.
- Understand the differences between intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), intradermal (ID), and subcutaneous (SC) methods of drug administration.
- Describe why certain drugs may be hazardous and differentiate between these and nonhazardous drugs.
Throughout this module, students will enhance their mathematical calculation skills essential for community and institutional pharmacy practice. Various styles will be covered, including interpreting medication dosage, using ratio-proportion methods, making conversions, and understanding abbreviations.

During this course, students will delve into the significance of compound policies and procedures within a pharmacy setting. You will utilize an understanding of formulations and techniques to carry out crucial dosage and compounding calculations. Subjects covered include weighing, levelling, trituration, and geometric dilution.

- Provide a list of needed supplies for compounding prescription medication spontaneously.
- Know how to test capsules, tablets, and powders for quality.
- The different types of solutions, suspensions, and emulsions.
- Provide a list of properties for chemicals, flavouring agents, sweetening agents, suspending agents, diluting agents, and colouring agents.
This MicroDiploma program is designed for students who have a background in pharmacy and want to expand their value or for those who wish to enter the pharmaceutical industry.
