Project Management has become essential in all areas of modern organizations. This course will develop the core technical and managerial skills needed to successfully perform all the steps required in managing a project. Embark on an in-depth exploration of the technical and social aspects of project management. Contrastingly, the second half of the course presents a practical approach where students apply the fundamental concepts to analyze case examples, delve deeper into project management issues, and gain hands-on experience with MS Projects. Program Objectives:

The objective is to provide participants with the core technical and managerial skills required to navigate the entire project management lifecycle successfully. Participants will explore project management’s technological and social components through a comprehensive curriculum. The course is divided into two halves: the first half focuses on the fundamentals of project management, while the second half offers practical application through case examples, in-depth analysis of project management issues, and hands-on experience with MS Project. By the end of the program, participants will have gained a solid foundation in project management principles and the ability to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, enabling them to effectively plan, execute effectively, and control projects of varying sizes and complexities.

Author:

Erik Larson: Professor of project management in the Department of Management, marketing, and international business at the College of Business, Oregon State University. He teaches executive, graduate, and undergraduate courses on project management, organizational behaviour, and leadership. His research and consulting activities focus on project management. He has published numerous articles on matrix management, product development, and project partnering. He has been a member of the Portland, Oregon, chapter of the Project Management Institute since 1984. In 1995 he worked as a Fullbright scholar with faculty at the Krakow Academy of Economics on modernizing Polish business education. In 2005 he was a visiting professor at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. He received a B.A. in psychology from Claremont McKenna College and a Ph.D. in management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. He is a certified project management professional (PMP).
